Strong Third Period Gives Trinity Women's Ice Hockey Win Over Williams

Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams scored two unanswered goals in the final period en route to a 3-1 win over Williams College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink.  Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the nation, improves to 11-2-4 overall and 4-2-3 in the NESCAC, while the Ephs drop to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in the league.

Williams was first to strike, taking a 1-0 lead in the first period after a power play goal from sophomore Nicolle Perry (Mohegan Lake, N.Y.).  The Bantams evened the count midway through the opening period, as senior tri-captain Kim Weiss (Potomac, Md.) netted her 14th goal of the season.

After a scoreless second period, Trinity took their first lead of the game with just 8:48 remaining in the third period.  The game-winning goal was scored by senior Alexa Guglielmi (Rocky Hill., Conn.).  Moments later, Williams could not capitalize on a power play advantage, and senior tri-captain Laura Komarek (Plymouth, Minn.) followed up with the third Trinity goal with 4:05 remaining, icing the win for the Bantams.

Trinity outshot Williams 40-12.  Trinity first-year goaltender Alexa Pujols (New Canaan, Conn.) made 11 saves in the game, while Williams first-year goaltender Rachel Nguyen (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) racked up 38 stops for the Ephs.
