Hartford, Conn. – Sophomore Beth Hitchcock (Glencoe, Ill.) made 16 saves to earn her third career shutout in as many career starts to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 4-0 win over the Wesleyan University Cardinals in women's ice hockey action tonight on Williams Rink at the Koeppel Community Sports Center. Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the nation, improves to 12-3-4 on the year, while the Cardinals drop to 2-14-1on the season.
Trinity senior tri-captain Alexa Guglielmi (Rocky Hill, Conn.) scored a power play goal 6:35 into the game to give the Bantams all the offense they would need for the win. The Trinity offense went on to score two more goals in the first period, and another in the third, while the defense frustrated Wesleyan all night, limiting the Cardinals to just 16 shots in the game.
In her first start of the season, Hitchcock made every stop she needed for the shutout, while Wesleyan sophomore Ashleigh Corvi (Barrington, R.I.) saved 36 of 40 shots that came her way.
