Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Senior co-captain Dan Mayernick (Gladwyne, Pa.) scored the game-tying goal in the 70th minute to help Trinity to overtime, and an eventual tie against the visiting Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon.
Hamilton, playing in their first-ever game as a playing member of the NESCAC, broke a scoreless tie early in the second half, as senior Dan Hughes (London, England) scored on a cross from classmate Dillon Friday (Duluth, Minn.) to give the Continentals a 1-0 lead.
In the 70th minute, Mayernick took a pass from fellow senior co-captain Wesley Updike (Cambridge, Mass.), and fired it off the leg of a Hamilton defender and into the net, knotting the game at 1-1. The game would remain tied, and result in a draw after two scoreless overtime periods.
Junior goaltender Eric Boole (Medfield, Mass.) made nine saves in the match for the Continentals, while senior co-captain Grant Schonberg (Mendham, N.J.) made four saves for the Bantams. Trinity outshot Hamilton 10-5, while Hamilton held an 8-5 advantage on corner kicks in the game.
