Box Score New London, Conn.—Junior midfielder Haley Thompson (Ipswich, Mass.) broke a 1-1 tie with 19:10 remaining and the lead stood up as the 15th ranked Trinity College field hockey team outlasted Connecticut College in a 2-1 victory. The Bantams improve to 6-1 overall with a 5-1 mark in the NESCAC, while the Camels slip to 3-2 with a 1-2 mark in league play.
First-year Sophie Doering (Darien, Conn.) delivered the pass from the end line and sophomore Sarah Duncan (Dedham, Mass.) was the stick-stop for the eventual game-winner.
Senior co-captain Gina Dinallo (West Hartford, Conn.) stopped five shots in goal for the visitors. Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) made six saves in the setback for the Camels.
Connecticut College tied the game at 1-1 with 24:19 remaining in the first half. Ali Holland (Watertown, Mass.) hit a ball from the right side to the center of the circle and Brittany Fitzgerald (Ridgefield, Conn.) was able to beat Dinallo with a one-timer for her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Trinity opened the scoring at the 2:09 mark. Junior Alanna Capasso (Weston, Mass.) tipped in a shot at the right post on a feed from the stick of senior co-captain Caroline Snite (Philadelphia, Pa.).
