Buffalo, N.Y. — Sophomore forward Abby Ostrom (Carlisle,
Mass.) netted a hat trick with all three Bantam goals as vistiing
Trinity College upended the Buffalo State College Bengals, 3-1, in
women's ice hockey action this evening. Trinity improves to
5-7 with its second victory in a row, while Buffalo State drops to
6-6-2 and has its three-game unbeaten streak come to an
end. The teams will complete the two-game series tomorrow
afternoon at 3 p.m.
Ostrom opened the scoring in the closing minutes of the first
period, bur Brianna Murphy (Depew, N.Y.) evened the game for
Buffalo State with an unassisted tally with just six seconds
remaining in the frame. Ostrom converted a power-play
marker from senior captains Brigitte Cellino (Buffalo, N.Y.) and
Dominique Di Dia (Los Angeles, Calif.) early in the second period,
and iced the game with a late empty-netter. Cellino had two
assists, while sophomore Alexa Pujol (New Canaan, Conn.) totaled 21
saves. Trinity outshot Buffalo State, 29-22. Jordan Lee
Colorado Springs, Colo.) made 26 saves between the pipes for the
Bengals.
