Buffalo, N.Y. – Sophomore goalkeeper Kristen
Maxwell (Nashville, Tenn.) made 21 saves to record her
third career shutout, as the Trinity College Bantams topped the
Buffalo State Bengals, 2-0, in women's ice hockey action this
afternoon at Ice Arena. Trinity improves to 6-7 overall with
their third straight win, while the Bengals drop to 6-7-2 on the
season.
Returning to her hometown, Trinity senior tri-captain
Brigitte Cellino (Buffalo, N.Y.) gave her visiting
Bantams a 1-0 lead on a first period power play goal at 13:41,
which was all the offense they needed in their second straight win
over the Bengals this weekend. Senior Payson Sword
(Princeton, N.J.) scored an insurance goal with 2:26 left
in the game, giving Trinity a sigh of relief in an otherwise
statistically even match.
Trinity faces Hamilton in a two-game series next Fri., Jan. 20
at 7 p.m. and Sat., Jan. 21 at 3 p.m. in New England Small College
Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. The Bantams went 3-0
against the Continentals last year, winning each game by a score of
3-1, including a win in the opening round of the League
championship playoffs.
