New Haven, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams fell in an early 4-0 hole to the defending National Champion Yale University, before falling to the No. 2-ranked Bulldogs, 7-2, at Brady Courts this evening. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in the nation, falls to 9-1 with their first loss of the season, while the Bulldogs stay undefeated with an 8-0 record.
Yale edged the Bantams in the first four matches to build a cushion, but with the deciding match on the line, Trinity junior Robyn Hodgson (Aberdeenshire, Scotland) kept the Bantams alive with a 3-2 victory in the No. 8 match. Yale sophomore Kim Hay (Newcastle, U.K.) ended Trinity's comeback hope, as she clinched the deciding match with a come-from-behind, 3-2 win at the No. 2 spot against Bantam sophomore Wee Nee Low (Penang, Malaysia). With the game already decided, Yale picked up two more points for a final of 7-2.
