Trinity Men's Soccer Shut Out At Bowdoin

Box Score

Brunswick, Maine - Sam White and Eric Goitia each scored to lead the Bowdoin College Polar Bear men's soccer team to a 2-0 decision over the visiting Trinity College Bantams this afternoon.  The win puts the Polar Bears, who improve to 8-3-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the NESCAC, in good shape heading into its regular season finale at Tufts on Wednesday at 3 p.m. With a win, Bowdoin will clinch the No. 4 seed and a home NESCAC Quarterfinal
match on Saturday, October 27.  Trinity falls to 5-4-4 overall and 3-4-2 in the league, is eliminated from contention for a home quarterfinal, and will battle for playoff position in its regular season finale against Wesleyan on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Bowdoin controlled the pace of play in the early going and cashed in shortly before halftime when Nabil Odulate played a throw-in on Bowdoin's offensive end to the head of Ben Brewster, who flicked it to the far post where Sam White spun side-winding effort into the net at 41:40. The Polar Bears got some much-needed insurance midway through the second half as a Trinity foul in the penalty area awarded Bowdoin a penalty kick. For the second-straight week, Eric Goitia deposited the penalty kick in the 64th minute to seal the win for the Polar Bears.  Will Wise made two saves in net as the Polar Bears held a 15-5 edge in shots and 8-2 lead in corner kicks. Junior James Ciano (Syosset, N.Y.) made three saves in net for Trinity.
