Lewiston, Maine - The visiting Trinity College Bantams came up
short, 5-4, against the Bates College Bobcats in a New England
Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's tennis match this
afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 9 in the Northeast, finishes
the regular season at 6-10 overall and 1-7 in the NESCAC, while
Bates, ranked No. 7 in the Northeast and No. 21 nationally,
improves to 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the league.
Trinity took three singles victories to keep the team score close,
as freshman Ford Traff (Wayzata, Minn.) won at No. 3, sophomore
Musyoka Mbithi (Orange, N.J.) won at No. 5 and rookie Aaron Segel
(Needham, Mass.) won at No. 6. Bates prevailed in two out of
three doubles matches, although senior tri-captain Jordan Kemp
() and sophomore Ned Mandel (Chevy Chase, Md.) prevailed, 8-4,
at the No. 3 spot for the Bantams.
