Trinity College Bantams, 5-0, in the opening round of the 2013 New
England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship
Tournament.Trinity, ranked No. 21 in the nation, drops to
11-7. Bowdoin advances to tomorrow's second round where
they square off with No. 2-seeded Williams.
Emma Chow and Tiffany Cheng defeated Trinity freshman Melita
Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) and senior co-captain Hillary Hoyt (New
York, N.Y.), 8-1. Kellen Alberstone and Chantalle Lavertu then
earned an 8-4 second doubles decision over Bantam junior Senzo
Mauve-Maphisa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and rookie Morgan Feldman (Upper
Brookville, N.Y.) before Kate Winingham and Emma Lewis completed
the doubles sweep with an 8-2 triumph over Trinity juniors Regan
Cherna (Bronxville, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Gerber (Bethesda,
Md.). Chow inched the Polar Bears closer to the victory with
a 6-4, 6-0 victory at sixth singles against Trinity senior
co-captain Frances Cameron (Mill Valley, N.Y.) before Winingham
closed things out with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Cherna in the fourth
slot.
