Box Score Waterville, Maine - Sophomore back Mark Perrault (Southborough,
Mass.) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd
minute to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1
victory over the Colby College White Mules in New England Small
College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this
afternoon. Trinity, ranked No. 5 in New England, stayed
perfect at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the NESCAC. Colby drops to
1-3 overall and 0-3 in the league.
The Bantams broke on top with the lone goal of the first half,
as senior forward Christian Carrasquillo (Manchester, Conn.) pushed
a pass to sophomore Malcolm Joseph (Sudbury, Mass.) whose centering
cross was headed in by rookie forward Cody Savonen (Orleans,
Mass.) just 1:54 into play.
The Mules settled down and tied the game just 4:05 into the
second half on a goal by Gray Louis, who knocked in a ball that had
bounced around. Trinity received the penalty kick when Colby
goalkeeper Cody Funkhouser came out hard and collided with a Bantam
player on a breakaway. First-year Domenic Quade (Norwood,
Mass.) stopped eight shots in net for Trinity, while Funkhouser had
nine saves.
