Trinity Men's Soccer Upends Colby On Penalty Kick

Box Score

Waterville, Maine - Sophomore back Mark Perrault (Southborough, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 2-1 victory over the Colby College White Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 5 in New England, stayed perfect at 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the NESCAC.  Colby drops to 1-3 overall and 0-3 in the league.

The Bantams broke on top with the lone goal of the first half, as senior forward Christian Carrasquillo (Manchester, Conn.) pushed a pass to sophomore Malcolm Joseph (Sudbury, Mass.) whose centering cross was headed in by rookie forward Cody Savonen (Orleans, Mass.) just 1:54 into play.

The Mules settled down and tied the game just 4:05 into the second half on a goal by Gray Louis, who knocked in a ball that had bounced around.  Trinity received the penalty kick when Colby goalkeeper Cody Funkhouser came out hard and collided with a Bantam player on a breakaway.  First-year Domenic Quade (Norwood, Mass.) stopped eight shots in net for Trinity, while Funkhouser had nine saves.
