Men's Soccer Falls in Conference Play at Bowdoin

Box Score

Brunswick, Maine – The Trinity College men's soccer team dropped its second straight contest on Saturday afternoon, falling, 2-0, to Bowdoin in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action at Pickard Field. With the defeat, the Bantams moved to 4-3-1 on the year and 1-3-1 in conference play, while Polar Bears improved to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in league tilts.

Bowdoin senior forward Sam White scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Polar Bears past Trinity. White's first tally was in the 55th minute and proved to be the eventual game winner and his second marker gave the home team some breathing room in the 75th minute.

The loss snapped a two-game unbeaten streak for Trinity against Bowdoin as the two conference rivals played to scoreless ties in each of the last two seasons and the Bantams topped the Polar Bears, 2-0, at home in 2011.

In net, Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Domenic Quade (Norwood, Mass.) made six saves in a losing effort, while first-year Stevie Van Siclen turned aside both shots he faced to register his first career shutout for Bowdoin.

For the Bantams, sophomore forward Cody Savonen (Orleans, Mass.) and sophomore midfielder Dan O'Neil (North Potomac, Md.) each fired one shot on target.

Bowdoin outshot Trinity, 17-9, and each team took five corner kicks apiece.

Trinity returns to action with a midweek non-conference tilt on Tuesday, Oct. 7, welcoming Wheaton to campus. The contest gets underway at 4:00 p.m. as the Bantams look to snap a two-game losing skid and remain perfect in out of league games.
