Hartford, Conn. – The visiting Trinity College Bantams had
little trouble with the Connecticut College Camels, winning, 9-0,
in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC)
women's tennis action this afternoon. Trinity, ranked
No. 14 in the nation improves to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the NESCAC
while snapping a two-match losing skid. Connecticut College
falls to 2-7 with its second setback in a row.
Leading, 3-0, after doubles play that included an 8-0 shutout by
Trinity seniors Caroline Gagne (Excelsior, Minn..) and
Elizabeth Gerber (Bethesda, Md.) at the No. 1 position, Trinity
dominated every singles match. The Bantams won in straight
sets up and down the ladder by a combined score of 72-10.
Sophomore Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) at No. 1 and senior
Senzo Mauve-Maphisa (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) at No. 3 won, 6-0,
6-0.
