Thousand Oaks, Calif. – The Trinity College women's tennis team rallied to defeat Cal Lutheran, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon at the Poulson Tennis Center. With the win, the Bantams improved to 1-4 on the spring, while the Regals moved to 5-6.
The hosts took an early 2-1 edge with a pair of wins in doubles action. The duo of junior Morgan Feldman (Upper Bookville, N.Y.) and senior co-captain Melita Ferjanic (Samobor, Croatia) earned the first point of the day for Trinity with an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
In singles play, the Bantams took four of six matches to register their first win of the dual match season. Ferjanic, Feldman and first-year Vanja Babunski (Belgrade, Serbia) all netted straight set singles victories at No. 1, 2 and 3, respectively. None of the three dropped more than one game in any of their sets as they all cruised to victory. Senior co-captain Carolyn Zimmer (Vero Beach, Fla.) clinched the victory by taking a 6-4, 7-6 (7-0) thriller at No. 5.
Trinity returns to action on April 1 with a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) contest versus in-state rival Connecticut College at home.
