Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 shutout win versus Hamilton at the Assaiante Tennis Center on Saturday morning in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action. With their sixth straight home victory, the Bantams end the regular season a perfect 6-0 in front of their home crowd. Trinity now sits at 9-3 overall and 4-2 in league play, while the Continentals dropped their third consecutive NESCAC match to move to 8-9 on the year and 0-4 in conference tilts.
The Bantams got off to a quick start, sweeping doubles play with three convincing victories. At No. 1, Ford Traff (Wayzata, Minn.) and Musyoka Mbithi (Roxbury, N.J.) won their match, 8-3. Senior captain Daniel Carpenter (Wayzata, Minn.) and David Myers (Winnetka, Ill.) netted an 8-4 triumph at No. 2 and the tandem of sophomores William Boyd (Hillsborough, Calif.) and Jagger Riefler (Wimbledon, England) earned an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
The Bantams were dominant in singles action, taking all six matches in straight sets.
Trinity returns to action on Sunday, April 19, with a road NESCAC matcher versus Colby at 10:00 a.m.
