Harford, Conn. – The Trinity College Volleyball team improved to 2-1 today after splitting two games to wrap up the 2015 Trinity Volleyball Invitational. The Bantams lost to Clark University in three straight sets in their 12:00 PM game before beating Westfield State, also in three sets, in their 2:00 PM game. 

In game one against Clark, the Bantams kept things close in each set, losing 25-22, 26-24, and 25-23. Senior Kate Giddens (Rancho Palos Verdes) led Trinity offensively with 22 kills and 51 total attacks. Teammate and fellow senior, Hunter Drews (Clifton Park, N.Y.) tallied four aces for the Bantams, however Clark would prove to be too much, led by Marina Ramos (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) and Ana Mercado (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) who combined for 22 kills.

In game two, Trinity came back strong to pick up their second win of the year, beating Westfield State in three straight sets, all to the tune of 25-18. Trinity was led again by Giddens with 17 kills, along with freshman Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) who had a game high six aces. Senior Gina Buzelli (Chesire, Conn.) had another strong game, recording 12 assists for the Bantams. Kelsey Reilly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) had five kills and 13 attacks for the Owls, who move to 2-6 to begin their 2015 campaign. 

In the other matches this afternoon, Eastern Connecticut State beat Westfield State 3-1 led by 31 combined kills between Adrianna Mihalek (Woodbury, CT) and Hannah Bryant (Avon, Conn.). Eastern Connecticut State would then fall to Clark in three straight sets, who was led by Ramos with 17 kills, and Rachel Webb (Celina, Texas) who had a game high 32 kills.
