Box Score Hartford, Conn. – Junior midfielder Mike Lubelczyk (Manchester, N.H.) scored the golden goal in the 103rd minute to lead the visiting Hamilton College Continentals to a 2-1 victory in extra time over The Trinity College Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's soccer action this afternoon. Trinity falls to 2-2-1 overall and 0-2 in the NESCAC while seeing its winless streak extend to three games. Hamilton improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the league with its second win in a row and its first-ever win over the Bantams. Trinity visits top-ranked Tufts tomorrow at 2:30 p.m., and Hamilton plays at home on Wednesday afternoon.
Trinity got on the board first 9:23 into the second half when junior forward Cody Savonen (Orleans, Mass.) scored his team-leading fourth goal from classmate Malcolm Joseph (Sudbury, Mass.). Hamilton tied the game with 4:16 left in regulation on a header by sophomore back Elijah Morris (Sherburne, N.Y.) that came directly off a corner kick by rookie forward Myles Pindus (Los Angeles, Calif.). In the second 10-minute overtime, Hamilton sophomore forward Jack Temko (Los Angeles, Calif.) blocked a kick by a Trinity back and pushed the ball to the top of the box before feeding Lubelczyk on the left wing for the clinching marker.
Watch Trinity up the pressure as the first half comes to an end.
Trinity sophomore goalie Mateo Zabala (Paterson, N.J.) made seven saves, including a spectacular stop against Lubelczyk late in the first half to keep the game scoreless, and Continental backstop Harris Pollack (Chappaqua, N.Y.) had 10 saves. Trinity was awarded a corner kick during the closing seconds of regulation, but headers by sophomore Sam Milbury (Peabody, Mass.) and junior Dan O'Neil (North Potomac, Md.) missed the mark.
