Men's Soccer Plays to a 1-1 Draw At Colby

Box Score

Waterville, Maine - The Trinity College Men's Soccer team tied 1-1 against New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) foe Colby on Saturday afternoon in Waterville. Trinity moves to 2-3-2 on the year and 0-3-1 in conference play while Colby sits at 2-3-1 and 1-1-1 in NESCAC play.

Both teams played 80 minute of scoreless soccer before the Mules scored the game's first goal off of a corner kick by Chandler Smith (Yarmouth, Maine) that was put in net by senior co-captain Tim Stanton (Newtonville, Mass.). Not more than three minutes later, the Bantams answered when the team's leading scorer, Cody Savonen (Orleans, Mass.) scored via an assist from tri-captain Mark Perrault (Southborough, Mass.) that tied things up at one.

Neither team was able to score in overtime as the game ended in a draw. Trinity goalkeeper Mateo Zabala (Paterson, N.J.) stopped five Mule shots on the afternoon while Colby netminder Dan Carlson (Littleton, Mass.) turned away six shots from the Bantams.

Trinity returns to the pitch on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when they travel to Connecticut College to play the Camels in a NESCAC matchup. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
