Trinity Field Hockey Clips Connecticut College For Third Straight Win

New London, Conn. - Sophomore forward Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) scored three goals to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 4-0 victory at Connecticut College in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) this evening.  The Bantams improved their record to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in the NESCAC with their third straight win. The Camels fell to 1-7 and are 0-5 in conference play.

The visitors opened the scoring 3:39 into regulation. Junior Mia Olson (Granby, Conn.) assisted senior forward Olivia Tapsall (Greenwich, Conn.) for the score as the Bantams cashed in on a penalty corner.  Finn scored the next two goals in a 6:46 span of the opening half to vault the visitors out to a 3-0 advantage at the break.  With 24:42 remaining in regualation, senior Elizabeth Caporale (Glastonbury, Conn.) assisted Finn on her third scored of the night. It was Finn's team-leading eighth goal of the season.  Caporale had two assists for the Bantams.

Trinity senior netminder Sophie Fitzpatrick (Duxbury, Mass.) made all three of her saves in the first half to earn the shutout for the visitors. Junior Ryley van der Velde (Louisville, Ky.) made six saves in the first half for the Camels while first year goalie Lauren Pianucci (Glen Gardner, N.J.) made six saves in a strong performance in relief duty.  Trinity held a 16-to-5 advantage on shots and enjoyed a 14-to-3 edge on penalty corners.
