Hartford, Conn. - Junior forward Erin Gehen (West Seneca, N.Y.) scored two goals to lead the visiting Buffalo State College Bengals to a 3-1 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in women's ice hockey action this evening at Williams Rink in the Koeppel Community Sports Center this afternoon.  Trinity drops to 0-3 and the Bengals improve to 5-3-1 with their first win in four games.  The teams will close out the two-game series in Hartford tomorrow night at 5 p.m.

Buffalo State struck first with the only goal of the first period when Gehen converted on a power play from classmates Christine Harris (Mountain Top, Pa.) and Brooke Krantz (Penticton, British Columbia) 5:48 into the game.  Trinity answered 2:28 into the second frame on the first career goal for first-year forward Olivia White (Oakville, Ontario) with an assist credited to sophomore forward Chandler Solimine (Pelham, N.Y.).  Harris fed Bengal junior forward Rachel Lenard (Orchard Park, N.Y.) on the game-winner with 8;15 left in the middle frame, also on a power play, and Gehen added an unassisted insurance goal in the third period.

Trinity got off 18 shots trying to tie the game at 2-2 before Gehen's second goal, including eight that were turned away by Buffalo State junior goaltender Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, Calif.). Bantam first-year forward Maggie Cusick (Chicago, Ill.) redirected a shot just wide of the Bengal net with 6:25 left in the sevcond period, and Silva denied Solimine one-on-one in the early moments of the third frame.  Trinity junior goaltender Jess Thulin (North Reading, Mass.) had 367 saves and junior Justine Silva (Baldwin Park, Calif.) had 33 stops for the Bengals.  Buffalo State finished with a 40-to-34 shooting advantage and was 2-for-5 on power plays, while killing off all six Trinity power plays.
