Middletown, Conn. - The Trinity College women's hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) in-state rival Wesleyan University today following a 3-1 defeat of the Cardinals last night. Trinity moves to 12-8-2 on the season while Wesleyan sits at 4-15-2 overall.

The two teams played a scoreless first period, as neither team committed a penalty in the first 20 minutes of action. Madzie Carroll (New Canaan, Conn.) put Wesleyan on the board first as she rifled a shot top-shelf over the glove hand of Trinity goalie Sydney Belinskas (Port Orange, Fla.) with 4:16 gone by in the second. Wesleyan added its second goal just over four minutes later at the 8:12 mark as Jess Brennan (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) came from around the net and dropped a pass to the waiting stick of Jenny Robinson (Carlisle, Mass.) who stuffed it through the pads of Belinskas. Trinity answered with 4:45 left in the period when sophomore Melissa Maffeo (Melrose, Mass.) took a pass from Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) and pushed it past Cardinal goalie Laura Corcoran (Oakville, Ontario). Wesleyan answered just over a minute later as Laura Mead (Morristown, N.J.) took a shot from right above the circle which was deflected into the goal by Ellery Sarosi (Ann Arbor, Mich.). 

Trinity cut the Wesleyan lead to one when Lindsay Miller (Manhasset, N.Y.) took a pass from Hannah Oganeku (Castle Pines, Colo.) and was able to get it by Corcoran with 14:09 gone by in the third. Just over two minutes later, the Bantams tied the game an Shannon Farrell (Kennebunk, Maine) scored her 10th goal of the season. Neither team was able to convert in overtime as the game ended in a tie.

The Bantams close out the regular season next weekend when they travel to Bowdoin for a Friday-Saturday doubleheader against the Polar Bears.
