Orange, Calif. - Sophomore Rex Glickman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) won the clinching match to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 5-4 victory over the Chapman University Panthers in men's tennis action this afternoon. Trinity improves to 3-2 with its second straight win, while the Panthers falls to 1-7 with their sevebth loss in a row.
Trinity took a 2-1 lead into singles play, as seniors Carlos Ferreyros (Lima, Peru) and Camden Smith (Dedham, Mass.) came through with a 8-6 win at second doubles after juniors William Boyd (Hillsborough, Calif.) and Rutendo Matingo (Weston, Mass.) had earned 8-2 win at third doubles. Bantam senior tri-captain Aaron Segel (Needham, Mass.) won, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4 singles, and Boyd recovered from a 6-3 loss in his first set to win the next two without allowing a point at fifth singles. Glickman edged Panther junior Sam Mittledorf, 7-6 (2), in the opening set at second singles, but lost, 6-3, in the second set before taking the clincher, 6-3.
