Finn Goal Gives Trinity Field Hockey First League Win At Connecticut College

Box Score

New London, Conn. - Senior tri-captain Kelcie Finn (South Weymouth, Mass.) scored the game's only goal 12:15 into the second half and junior goalkeeper Lori Berger (Scottsdale, Ariz.) made four saves for her second shutout of the season, as the visiting Trinity College Bantams ended a four-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this evening at Silfen Field.  Trinity is now 2-4 overall and 1-3 in the NESCAC, while the Camels fall to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in the league with their first loss in three games.  The Bantams visit NESCAC rival Bates on Saturday at 11 a.m. and New England the next day at noon.

Finn's clincher came on the third of her three shots-on-goal in a 13-second span, after the first two were stopped by Camel rookie backstop Andi McGraw (Sheffield, Mass.).  Berger made half of her saves after the break on shots by Connecticut College junior forward Jamie Navoni (Natick, Mass.), including one 3:39 into the second half and the other with 12:12 left in the contest.  Trinity did not put another shot-on-goal after Finn's goal.  Berger had her other two saves in 15 seconds late in the first half, while McGraw totaled six stops in the game.  Trinity outshot the home team, 13-8, and had seven penalty corners to three for the Camels.
