Bowman Notches 200th Win With Volleyball's 3-0 Victory at Nichols

Box Score

Dudley, Mass. - Trinity College Volleyball Head Coach Jen Bowman (15th season) recorded her 200th career win as coach of the Bantams on Tuesday evening as Trinity dominated Nichols College in a 3-0 sweep. The Bantams won by set scores 25-15, 25-8 and 25-8 to improve to 9-6 overall while the Bison fall to 4-14 with the setback.

Trinity returns to action on Friday night for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) battle at home versus Williams before a doubleheader with Hamilton and Lesley on Saturday. The team will honor senior co-captains Hanna Engstrom (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Rachel Underwood (Danville, Calif.) before Friday night's match as part of Senior Night in Oosting Gymnasium.

The Bantams dominated Nichols in a match that saw the visitors tally a season-high 18 aces and commit just nine attack errors. Rookie Ally Conde (Danielson, Conn.) led the charge with a .429 kill percentage while Engstrom, Underwood and juniors Wyllie Boughton (Andover, Mass.) and Colette Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) each finished with three or more kills. Boughton posted a match-high four aces while sophomores Jessica Yang (Pacific Palisades, Calif.) and Ali Odermann (Lenexa, Kan.) both added three apiece. Yang led the team with eight assists while Odermann finished with seven digs. Conde also turned in a match-best two solo blocks.

Jayleen Fegan (Mansfield Center, Conn.) and Shannon Anthony (South Windsor, Conn.) tied a team-high with three kills each for the Bison while Feegan also led all players with 10 digs.

Trinity jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the first set before pulling away for the 25-15 win. Set two saw the Bantams begin on a 9-2 run before a 9-0 run made it 18-2. The Bantams cruised the rest of the way to take the second set, 25-8. The third set proved much of the same as Trinity took a 10-3 lead before a Nichols timeout. Out of the break, The Bantams went on a 14-6 run, eventually clinching the match on an ace by sophomore Ana DiPrizito (Ridgewood, N.J.).
