Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College men's tennis team battled, but ultimately fell, 6-3, to the No. 6-ranked Middlebury College Panthers on Saturday morning in a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) match in Hartford. The Bantams, who honored senior co-captains Rex Glickman (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and Kyle Scheffers (Flossmoor, Ill.) before the match as part of Senior Day, fall to 5-7 overall and 0-6 in conference play. The Panthers swept doubles play to jump out to an early, 3-0 advantage in the overall match. Aleksandr Samets and Alex Vanezis won at No. 6 and No. 3 singles, respectively, to put the guests ahead, 5-0, before Glickman earned the first Trinity triumph of the day at the top singles match, a back and forth battle that saw Glickman win, 6-4 in the final game. Scheffers also picked up a Bantam victory, at No. 2 singles, with a 10-8 victory in the third game after splitting the first two. Trinity rookie Christopher Bilicic (Chicago, Ill.) capped off Trinity's individual victories with a win at No. 5 in another back-and-forth affair that ended, 6-7 (3-7), 6-3, 12-10.
