Women's Hockey Wins Fourth Straight With 4-2 Victory Over Plymouth St.

Box Score

Plymouth, N.H. - The Trinity College women's hockey team scored three times in the first period to open a 3-0 lead at the first intermission and never looked back, coming away with a 4-2 victory over the Plymouth St. Panthers on Tuesday evening in a non-conference battle at Hanaway Rink in New Hampshire. The win is the team's fourth in a row as the Bantams move to 6-4 on the year. Plymouth St. falls to 2-8-3 with the setback.

Trinity wasted little time breaking the scoreless tie as sophomore Sierra Lee (Ferguson's Cove, Nova Scotia) scored her third goal of the season in just 16 seconds. Lee found the back of the net shortly after the game's opening faceoff, courtesy of assists by first-year Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) and senior captain Alex Sinson (Elm Grove, Wisc.).

Flaherty joined Lee with her third goal of the season at the 9:16 mark in the first period, assisted by fellow rookie Cassidy McNeeley (South Easton, Mass.), to give the Bantams a 2-0 lead. Trinity added to its lead less than a minute later after Plymouth St. was called for a tripping penalty. Junior forward Lauren Mac Master (St. Albert, Alberta) found the back of the net on the power play, her second of the sorts this season, to give the visitors a commanding, 3-0 lead as the two sides entered the first break.

After 18 minutes came and went in the second period, junior Taylor Foy (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) added an insurance goal to give Trinity a 4-0 lead. The goal came on assists by sophomore Karinna Cave-Hawkins (Edgewater, Md.) and rookie Angelica Mushenko (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and was Foy's second goal of her career.

The Panthers ended the shutout in the third period thanks to a Bantam penalty that gave Plymouth St. a power play opportunity. Alie Louie (Mount Laurel, N.J.) turned the chance into a score at the 9:09 mark before another goal by Panther junior Sydney Linnick (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) five minutes later cut the deficit to 4-2, however the comeback bid fell far short as Trinity came away with the 4-2 victory.

The Bantams return to action this weekend for a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) series at home versus Hamilton College beginning on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
