Princeton, N.J. - Junior Min Jie Teh (Klang, Malaysia) and sophomore Sarahi Lopez posted 3-0 victories in the top third, but the visiting Trinity College fell short against the Princeton University Tigers in women's squash acton this afternoon at Jadwin Courts. Trinity, ranked No. 3 in the nation, finished the regular season at 14-3, heading into the College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championships (Howe Cup) this weekend at Yale University. In the final home match of the 2019-20 season, second-ranked Princeton won a national top-three battle with No. 3 Trinity in Jadwin Gym, 5-4. No. 2-ranked Princeton closes its regular slate at 16-1 with its sixth win in a row.
Teh and Lopez, ranked No. 7 and No. 5, respectively at the end of last year both swept opponents ranked among the nation's top 30, but junior Raneem El Torky surprised Trinity junior Akanksha Salunkhe (Vasco de Gama, India), ranked No. 18 last season and playing No. 2 on the ladder for the Bantams this winter, with a 3-2 win including an 11-2 triumph in the fifth game. Bantam senior tri-captain Vanessa Raj (Penang, Malaysia) and sophomore Nadiia Usenko (Kiev, Ukraine) won, 3-2, and 2-1, at No. 4 and No. 5 on the ladder, respectively. The Tigers won at the bottom four positions in the lineup with none of the four reaching five games.
