New Haven, Conn. - The Trinity College Bantams suffered an 8-1 setback against the Harvard University Crimson in the College Squash Association (CSA) National Team Championship (Howe Cup) Semifinals this afternoon at Yale University' Brady Courts. Trinity, seeded No. 4 in the tourney field, falls to 15-4 and will play the host Yale Bulldogs for third place tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. Top-seeded Harvard ups its season mark to 16-0 and will play Princeton for the Howe Cup title tomorrow at 2:5 p.m.
Trinity senior tri-captain Vanessa Raj (Penang, Malaysia) remained perfect for the season (14-0) with a 3-1 win in the No. 4 match against Amina Yousry. Bantam junior Min Jie Teh (Klang, Malaysia), ranked No. 7 nationally at the end of last season, took one game from top-ranked Georgina Kennedy in the No. 1 match. Trinity senior tri-captain Lakeesha Rarere (Hastings, New Zealand) and sophomores Ashita Bhengra (Chennai, India) and Amina Taher (Alexandria, Egypt) were also beaten by 3-1 scores. None of the nine matches went five games and four Crimson players won, 3-0.
