Trinity Field Hockey Falls In A Shootout At Hamilton

CLINTON, N.Y. - The visiting Trinity College Bantams dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 decision on a shootout to the Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon.  Trinity, ranked No. 7 in the nation, falls to 9-3 overall and 5-3 in the NESCAC, while No. 20-ranked Hamilton improves to 7-5 overall and 3-5 in the league.  Sophomore forward Jackie Frank (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored the Trinity goal and the Bantams outshot Hamilton, 25-9.

The game was scoreless through three quarters, as Trinity sophomore goalkeeper Olivia McMichael (Glenside, Pa.) had to make just one save in front of the stout Bantam defense.  Frank scored from senior captain Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) 1:44 into the fourth quarter but Keeley Duran tied it for the Continentals with 6:26 left to play.  McMichael made another save in the first overtime, while the Trinity offense peppered Hamilton goalie Maggie Reville with 11 shots on goal in the two extra frames but could not get one past her.  In the shootout, Tracey Stafford scored for Hamilton on the eighth attempt by the teams to give the home team the win.  Reville finished with 15 saves.
