HARTFORD, Conn. – The Trinity College women's soccer team was defeated by Bates College Sunday afternoon, 1-0. The Bantams slide to 5-3-1 with a 1-2-1 mark in conference play. Bates improves to 2-4-2 and picks up its first conference win. Trinity will host Tufts next Saturday at noon with Bates set to take on Middlebury at 11:00 a.m.
After a scoreless first half, Bates created a two-on-one opportunity and capitalized on its only shot-on-goal at the 58:13 mark. Maeve Parmelee netted the goal on an assist from Izzy Lussier. The Bantams took 18 shots with their closest scoring attempt coming on a 40-yard direct kick from sophomore
Tori Simas, who sent the equalizer just over the cross bar with about a minute remaining in regulation.
Bates goalkeeper Kat Nuckols collected seven saves in her third shutout of 2021. Trinity held the advantage in corner kicks at 6-3 and put six more shots on goal than the Bobcats.
