HARTFORD, Conn. – The right foot of junior
Hannah Storozuk gave the Trinity College women's soccer team a 1-0 lead in the 25
th minute, which was all the Bantams needed to defend their home turf against Tufts University on Saturday afternoon. The win marks Trinity's first over the Jumbos since 2016 and propels the team to a 6-3-1 record with a 2-2-1 spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) standings. Tufts falls to 5-4 (3-3 NESCAC) as the Bantams deal the Jumbos their second-straight conference loss.
Sophomore
Sadie Rudolph sent the ball up-field to Storozuk who initially misjudged the pass but was able to circle back to the loose ball and fire a shot across her body into the lower left corner of the goal for her second score of the season.
The Bantams and the Jumbos each took seven shots and put a pair on target. Trinity's
Mariana Cournoyer played all 90 minutes in goal, tallying two saves and picking up her second shutout this season.
Trinity head coach
Rachael Schroeder will lead her squad to Wesleyan University on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. showdown against the 6-1 Cardinals.
