Trinity Volleyball Swept at Bowdoin College

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Trinity College volleyball team was swept by Bowdoin College, 3-0 on Friday night (25-14, 25-19, 25-22). The Bantams' loss puts them at 7-9 with a 0-5 mark in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play. Bowdoin improves its record to 10-3 (5-1 NESCAC) following its sixth-straight win. Trinity travels to Massachusetts tomorrow for a 1 p.m. tilt at Tufts University.

Bowdoin jumped out to an early lead, with the Bantams trailing by as many at 10 before falling 25-14 in the night's opening set. Trinity fought back, producing more competitive sets in two and three. The Bantams posted an early five-point run in the second and jumped out to a 4-1 lead to start the third which proved to be the most exciting of the night, seeing seven lead changes.

Trinity held the advantage in kills at 35-28 but 10 total Bowdoin service aces, seven of which came from senior Sophia Pahl, and 10 total blocks proved to be the difference maker.

Junior Molly Bernstein led the Blue and Gold with 10 kills, marking the fourth game she has reached double-digits this season. Senior Locke Luhnow and first-year Grace Sullivan combined for 30 assists and nine digs while Natalia Ortiz led the team with 12 digs.
