Trinity Men's Basketball Falls to Kean University

HARRISON, N.Y. – The Trinity College men's basketball team was dealt its first loss of the 2021 season by Kean University, 76-69. The neutral site match leaves the Bantams with a 2-1 record while Kean improves to 4-0. Both teams will resume action tomorrow in the A.J. Buchanan Classic hosted by Manhattanville College. 
 
The Bantams led by four at the half but Kean was able to capitalize on Trinity's miscues, scoring 21 total points off of turnovers. After tying the game at 45 with two made free throws, Patrick Strzala followed with a 3-pointer with 12:40 to go in the second half to give Kean the lead to which they would hold for the remainder of the contest.
 
Letrell West led all scorers with 22 points and helped the Cougars take their largest lead of the game of 11 with a layup late in the second half. Kean was the more efficient team in all three scoring categories shooting 40 percent from the field, 53 percent from 3-point and 77 percent from the line. Trinity senior Donald Jorden posted a double-double with 17 points and 18 rebounds while also tallying three blocks and a steal. Juniors Dana Smith and C.J. Redd each reached double-digits scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. First-year Will Dorion led the Blue and Gold with six assists on the evening.
