BIDDEFORD, Maine – Senior
Cassidy McNeeley scored two goals to lead the visiting Trinity College women's ice hockey team to a 3-0 victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon in Maine. The Bantams improve to 2-0-1, picking up their second shutout of 2021 while New England falls to 2-6 on the year. McNeeley and company will resume action tomorrow evening hosting Salem State University at 6 p.m. in the Koppel Community Sports Center.
Following a scoreless first period, Trinity wasted no time getting on the board in the second when first-year
Paige Kehoe netted the game's first goal, and her first ever as a Bantam, just 12 seconds into action. McNeeley added to the lead nearly eight minutes later on an unassisted score before burying another on a Trinity power-play just over a minute into the third period to give her team a comfortable 3-0 lead. Senior
Bergen Kobienia was credited for the assist, marking her first helper of the season.
The Bantams outshot New England 43-15 and held the advantage on power-plays at 4-1. Nor'easter goalkeeper Delanie Corcoran registered 40 saves in net while sophomore
Hannah Leclair collected 15 of her own and picked up her second shutout this year. Trinity has now outshot its opponents 123-49 over three games to begin the year.
