HARTFORD, Conn. – Five different goal scorers led the Trinity College women's ice hockey team to a 5-1 victory over Johnson and Wales University (JWU) on Saturday night in the Koeppel Community Sports Center. The Bantams improve to 5-1-1 while JWU slides below the .500 mark at 6-7 overall. Trinity resumes action after the holiday break on Tuesday, Jan. 4 with a 7:30 p.m. home contest against New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponent Connecticut College.

The Bantams scored once in the first period followed by two goals in second and another two in the third. Firsty-year Betsy Winslow (Fairfield, Conn.) put the game's first goal on the board on a power-play assisted by junior Stephanie Nevers (West Suffield, Conn.) and first-year Paige Kehoe (Manasquan, N.J.). JWU answered with its lone goal of the contest at the 3:10 mark in the second frame on an even-strength goal from Kaylin Garner.

Trinity's Jenny Guider (Ridgefield, Conn.) reclaimed the lead for the Blue and Gold just three minutes later on an unassisted, breakaway score. The Bantams then added three additional insurance goals from junior Olive Scull (South Strafford, Vt.), Kehoe and junior Claudia Capone (Foxboro, Mass.), respectively. In addition to Fellows, Nevers and Kehoe, senior Cassidy McNeeley (South Easton, Mass.) and senior Angelica Mushenko (East Longmedow, Mass.) each tallied assists on the night. Junior Stephanie Garvis (Plymouth, Minn.) earned the win in net for the Bantams and tallied 18 saves while Sofia Tamayo and Anna Maulson collected 17 and seven saves, respectively for JWU.
