Hartford, Conn. – First-year
Dane Crowley (Pelham, N.Y.) won 22 of 28 faceoffs to help lead the Trinity College men's lacrosse program to their second straight win, downing Endicott 14-10 in a physical home contest. The Bantams (2-0) saw 10 players find the back of the net, with junior
Reid McDonald (Aldie, Va.) earning his first hat trick of the season — scoring all three goals in the second half — to secure the win.
The game was Endicott's season opener, and senior Jack Sutherland started his season with a hat trick to pace the Gulls on offense. Junior Sam Abate notched two goals, and freshman Nick Pagluiso tallied five points (one goal, four assists) in the setback.
With the Bantams utilizing two goaltenders on the evening, first-year
Cooper Yaccino (Kenilworth, Ill.) locked down the net in the second half, making 12 saves and allowing just three goals. Sophomore
Patrick Grimes (Morristown, N.J.) was also efficient through the opening 30 minutes, allowing seven goals while making eight saves.
Both teams came out firing to start the first quarter, scoring three goals apiece through 15 minutes. During the six lead changes through the first half, Endicott took its largest lead of the game late in the second quarter. A great feed from senior Sam DesMarais from behind the net led to a man-up goal for Sutherland in front of the crease, and was followed by a goal from junior Sam Abate to make it 7-5 at halftime.
The Bantam offense picked up in the second half, seeing a goal from sophomore
William Puccio (Garden City, N.J.) at the 13:22 mark. McDonald followed with his first goal of the evening to knot the score at 7-7, and with nine minutes left in the third, junior
Jackson Wood (Alexandria, Va.) ripped twine to take the lead. Trinity began to pick up momentum after a man-down goal from McDonald late in the quarter, but after two quick goals from the Gulls, sophomore
Tucker Sheehan (Pomfret, Conn.) scored with seven seconds left in the third to give the Bantams a 10-9 edge into the fourth.
Sutherland picked up his third goal at the 9:50 mark in the final frame, but that would be the final tally for Endicott. Senior
Jack Cahill (Medfield, Mass.), junior
Connor McCulloch (Alexandria, Va.) and sophomore
Ethan Tym (New Rochelle, N.Y.) would all find the back of the net before McDonald's third goal ended the scoring, sealing Trinity's 14-10 victory.
The Bantams will have a quick turnaround, traveling to Boston, Massachusetts for its first road contest of the year at Wentworth. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
