Katrina Angelucci (Weston, Mass.) and
Marcella Flibotte (Cohasset, Mass.) scored three goals apiece to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 10-5 victory over the visiting Hamilton College Continentals in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) East Division women's lacrosse action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 18 in the nation, improves to 3-3 while snapping a three-game losing skid to end up 1-3 in the division. No. 21-ranked Hamilton, which would have tied Wesleyan for the top spot in the NESCAC East with a win today, is now 2-2 overall and in the NESCAC East.
Flibotte and Angelucci scored the game's first two goal in the opening 1:48 with fellow senior tri-captain
Olivia Weckwerth (Westborough, Mass) assisted Flibotte on the first tally. Courtney Pierre scored for Hamilton on a free position at the 24:46 mark, but the Bantams rattled off five goals in a row to lead 7-1 at the break. Five different Bantams scored during the run with junior
Christine Taylor (Westport, Conn.) scoring once and assisting on a second goal.
Tessa Ryan scored on another free-position shot to end a 35:43 scoring drought for the Continentals 7:57 into the second half, and neither team scored again until Angelucci gave the Bantams an 8-2 advantage with an unassisted goal at the 16:20 mark. Hamilton made a run with three goals in a row, as Ryan scored once and assisted Eva Abel on a second before Pierre netted her second goal of the game on a free position with 3:26 on the clock. Taylor scored an insurance goal for Trinity on a free position with 2:21 left and Flibotte slapped in the game's final goal while lying on the ground with 31 seconds left to make the final score, 10-5.
The team statistics were mostly even, although Hamilton finished with a 23-to-14 edge on ground balls. Trinity had a slight advantage with 29 shots to 25 for the Continentals. Taylor joined Angelucci and Flibotte with multiple points, totaling two goals and two assists, while junior goalie
