Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College softball program wrapped up its regular season splitting its doubleheader at Bates, 18-1 and 11-2 Sunday afternoon. In two high-scoring contests, the Bantam offense erupted for 18 hits and 16 RBI in game one, highlighted by a combined six hits and six RBI from sophomore

Alex Chambers (East Lyme, Conn.).
With the split, Trinity (4-8, 3-5 NESCAC) has officially been eliminated from NESCAC playoff contention. The team will conclude its season with a non-conference contest at Bowdoin, playing either Saturday, May 8, or Sunday, May 9.
Junior
Jordan Stephan (South Orange, Conn.) went 1-1 in the circle, claiming the win in game one while allowing just three hits while fanning three batters through three innings.
In game one, the Bantams played its best inning of softball of the year, pounding the Bobcat pitching staff for 10 runs in the top of the first to take a commanding lead. Chambers knocked in two runs in the inning, with senior
Samantha Witmer (Drexel Hill, Pa.) capping the frame with her first two-run home run of the season.
In the fourth, the visitors tacked on eight more runs, with Russell claiming two of her three RBI on a double to left field with the bases loaded. Junior
Maura Keary (Fairfield, Conn.) also managed to knock in a run in the inning, where she would finish three-for-four on the day.
Game two saw a similar offensive finish, but it was Bates who would score eight of its 11 runs in the second and fourth innings to take an 11-2 victory in the nightcap. Chambers touched the plate twice for the Bantams, with first-year
Kennedy Rogers (Pomona Beach, Calif.) earning an RBI groundout in the second inning and sophomore
Makayla Boucher (Lowell, Mass.) knocking in Chambers with a single to center field in the fourth. '
Chambers finished the day going five-for-seven and getting on both times in game two, while Witmer would finish the nightcap as the only other Bantam with two hits.
