Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College women's soccer team was defeated by No. 7 ranked MIT on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 3-2. The loss marks the first setback for the Bantams this season as they drop to 2-1. MIT remains unbeaten as the improve to 4-0-1. The Bantams will have the week off before resuming competition Saturday, Sept. 18 when they host Colby College for their first NESCAC matchup of 2021.
Sophomore forward Tori Simas (Newburyport, Mass.) scored both goals for Trinity giving the Bantams an early 1-0 lead and again putting her team on top at the 35-minute mark, with the help of Colleen Lux (Shaker Height, Ohio) who tallied her first assist of the season. Simas has netted three goals through three games with Sunday marking her first two-goal game of her career. Sophomore goalkeeper Mariana Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn.) recorded three saves for the Bantams. Ceci Munoz scored the game-tying and game-winning goals for MIT.
