Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) scored three times to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 4-1 victory over the visiting Colby College Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) field hockey action this afternoon on Sheppard Field. Trinity, ranked No. 14 in the nation, improves to 4-0 for the first time since 2012 with the win in its conference opener. Colby falls to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Flaherty scored the game's first goal less than two minutes into the game and again in each of the following two quarters to give the Bantams a 3-0 lead with one frame left. Fellow Trinity captain
Christine Taylor (Westport, Conn.) assisted on the first goal and gave the home squad a 4-0 lead with a goal in the fourth quarter. Colby got on the board late on a goal by Erin Quirk. Trinity junior
