Worcester, Mass. - Sophomore
Cassie Lee (Newton, Mass.) scored the game's only goal to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 1-0 victory over the Clark University Cougars in women's soccer action this evening at Granger Field. The Bantams improve to 3-1-1 and will visit New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer rival Williams on Saturday at noon. Clark falls to 3-3.
Trinity senior
Jennifer Stuart (Newburyport, Mass.) saved an early shot by Clark junior Emma Tziachris, before the defenses kept both teams from taking a single shot for 20 minutes. Lee and sophomore
Lexi Hasbrouck (Hopkinton, Mass.) fired shots on target in the first half that were both stopped by senior netminder Morgan Small. Trinity senior captain
Whitney Hoban (Winnetka, Ill.) got off two more shots early in the second stanza, while the Cougars got their best look on goal of the match in the 65th minute but Stuart jumped to deny a header by senior Jamie Joseph. The teams then traded possession over the next 15 minutes before Lee found the back of the net after the initial shot by Trinity rookie Katleyn Charette (Hampton, N.H.) was blocked. Clark got off one more shot but Stuart made her third save to improve to 2-0 in goal this fall. Small finished with five stops.
