Women’s Soccer Picks Up First Conference Victory at Williams

Williamstown, Mass. – For the first time in program-history, the Trinity College women's soccer team defeated Williams College on the road. Saturday afternoon's 1-0 win marks the first over a New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) school this season for the Bantams, having tied with Colby College in their conference opener last week. Trinity improves to 4-1-1 overall with a 1-0-1 record in conference play. Williams is now 2-3-1 after the loss and 0-2-1 against NESCAC opponents. The Bantams return home to host Union College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Williams takes on Massachusetts Institute of Technology tomorrow at 12:30 p.m.  (Trinity had gotten past Williams in the 2016 NESCAC Semifinals on penalty kicks but the game was ruled a tie by the NCAA rules)

It was sophomore Tess Flanders who scored the lone goal of the game for the Bantams. In the 23rd-minute, the midfielder was able to capitalize on a loose ball in the box and give Trinity the advantage while also registering her first career score. Senior goalkeeper Jennifer Stuart tallied five saves and posted her third shutout of the year. Williams out-shot Trinity 16-8. Both teams put five shots on goal.
