Keene, N.H. – The visiting Trinity College Bantams scored three times in the opening 12 minutes and rolled to an 8-0 win over the Keene State College Owls in field hockey action Tuesday night. The game was the No. 19-ranked Bantams season opener and the Owls fall to 0-3. KSC has a quick turnaround, hosting Colby-Sawyer College tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. Trinity visits Smith on Friday, at 6 pm.
Trinity had six different players score in the contest, including three in the opening quarter as they built a 3-0 lead. Sophomore
Jackie Frank (Longmeadow, Mass.) found the back of the cage 4:37 in before
Katrina Winfield (Wilmington, Del.) and
India Shay (Southborough, Mass.) scored 46 seconds apart with less than four minutes to go in the first. The Bantams added to their lead when
Caelin Flaherty (Upton, Mass.) scored in the 27th minute, the first of her two goals on the evening. Junior
Emma Cohen (Falmouth, Maine) also had a pair for Trinity, both coming with less than eight minutes to go in the game.
Emma Cropper (Norwalk, Conn.) and
Olivia McMichael (Glenside, Pa.) each played a half in the Trinity cage, with neither needing to record a stop. Trinity had a 24-4 edge in penalty corners, including 11-1 in the third quarter.
