Trinity Women's Soccer Sets Tie Record With Draw At Bates

LEWISTON, MAINE - Rookie forward Elena Lindonen (Boxford, Mass.) scored in the 86th minute, one-touching a cross ito the net from junior Dot Tilden (Hanover, Mass.) to lead the visiting Trinity College Bantams to a 1-1 draw against the Bates College Bobcats in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) women's soccer action this afternoon on Russell Street Field.  Trinity, ranked No. 22 in the nation, remains undefeated through nine games for the first time since 1981 and ties the school's season record for ties with at 4-0-5 overall mark and a 2-0-3 record in the NESCAC.  Bates moves to 3-4-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the league.  The Bantams take on No. 6-ranked Tufts tomorrow at noon in Medford, Mass.

Izzy Lussier scored the Bates goal from Cece Pilgrim in the 42nd minute.  The Bantams outshot Bates, 14-7 (6-2 on goal), which included a 10-0 advantage in the second stanza.  Rookie Samantha Bunar gathered five saves and Trinity junior goalie Mariana Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn.) stopped one shot. Sophomores Anna Franceschi (Milwaukee, Wisc.) and Katelyn Charette (Hamptron, N.H.) had late chances for Trinity but neither shots were on goal.
