Three Goals Not Enough For Trinity Men's Soccer Against Framingham State

HARTFORD, Conn. - Bryce Nardizzi scored the game-winning goal in the 79th minute to lead the visiting Framingham State University Rams to a 4-3 victory over the Trinity College Bantams in men's soccer action this evening at Trinity Soccer Field.  Trinity, which received two goals from junior midfielder James Donaldson (Kirkland, Quebec), drops to 0-7-3 overall, while the Rams improve to 8-3-1.  The Bantams will visit New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) rival Middlebury, ranked No. 12 in the nation, in their next game on Saturday at noon.

Trinity found itself down, 1-0, early after a Ram goal by Gabriel Padilla but tied the score in the 13th minute when Donaldson scored his first of the game on a penalty kick.  The Bantams took their only lead of the game in the 20th minute when sophomore Nicholas Bellak (Amherst, Mass.) blasted one home from the right flank on a give-and-go with junior Michael Traynor (Rye, N.Y.).  The Rams tied it before halftime on a header by Sherak Ayamga off a corner kick by Nardizzi.

Kumphel Simha scored for Framingham State 7:34 into the second half but Trinity knotted the game up again 5:16 later when Donaldson converted on Traynor's second assist of the game.  Nardizzi scored the clincher on a direct kick from just outsude the box, threading a shot by the wall and into the upper right corner.  Donaldson nearly tied the game with his third goal in the 83rd minute but was denied by Ram goalie James Hartshorn from close on the left wing.  Hartshorn finished with three saves and Trinity junior Bernardo Simoes (Lisbon, Portugal) had five stops, as the visitors outshot Trinity, 13-8.
