Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. – A trio of Bantam goals ignited by Peter Bronson (Gaithersburg, Md.) sealed the 3-0 shutout against Castleton University for the Trinity College men's soccer first win of the season this Saturday at the Dave Wolk Stadium. The non-conference win improved the Bantams' overall record to 1-8-3 and dropped the Spartans to 4-8-2.
With 18 minutes remaining in the first half and the scoreboard reading 0-0 junior midfielder Bronson scored his first goal of the season off a penalty kick. A little over 10 minutes later, sophomore defender Owen McDermott (Williston, Vt.) launched the ball from left field at sophomore forward Luka de Faria e Castro (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who booted it to the net for his first goal of the season.
In the second half of the game, first-year midfielder Zobran Elias (Lilongwe, Malawi) fed the ball to sophomore forward Oliver Dahlen (Wilton, Conn.), who blasted the ball into the bottom corner of the net, bringing the game to its final score of 3-0.
Trinity outshot the home team 15-5 with 10 shots on goal, while the Spartans attempted one at the target. Jacob Loor (Houston, Texas) had a team leading six shots and one on goal, while Dahlen sent five and a pair towards the box. Bernardo Simoes (Lisbon, Portugal) opened the first 70 minutes and grabbed one save, while Nate Dyott (Tarrytown, N.Y.) closed out the contest. The visitors attempted eight corners and the Spartans weren't allowed any opportunities from the corner.
The Bantams' next game will be on October 19th against Western Connecticut State in Danbury, Conn.
