Women's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Loss Against MIT

HARTFORD, Conn. — Through 52 minutes, the Trinity College women's soccer team maintained a hardy momentum on either sides of the pitch until the Massachusetts Institute of Technology broke through the defense in the 1-0 loss on Monday. The Bantams moved to 5-2-6 overall, while the Engineers improved to 12-4-1.

In the second all-time match between the two teams, the Bantams kept the scoreboard clean with a pair of saves by Mariana Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn.) in the box. Trinity played aggressively in the opening 45 minutes with seven shots and five on goal, while the visitors only attempted two. The Engineers spent most of the opening minutes playing defense before Megan Rowlett fired the first shot with 19:16 on the clock Rowlett would later drill the game-winning goal off a rebounded header that dinked the crossbar seven minutes into the second half.

The home team outshot MIT 14-9 and nine corner kicks but couldn't connect with the net. Hannah Storozuk (Tolland, Conn.) started for the Bantams and lead the team with a trio of shots and one on target. Cassie Lee (Newton, Mass.) and Dot Tilden (Hanover, Mass.) each had a pair of shots and a solo shot on goal.

Trinity remains at home with an important New England Small College Athletic Conference matchup against Williams College on October 22 at noon.
