HARTFORD, Conn. — A pair of goals by
Gabby Grattan (Milton, Mass.) and
Elena Lindonen (Boxford, Mass.) delivered a 2-1 triumph for the Trinity College women's soccer team over #10 Williams College at home on Saturday. The Bantams improved to 6-2-6 overall and 4-1-4 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, while the Ephs dropped to 9-3-2 and 6-2-1.
Twenty minutes into the contest, Grattan drew a penalty kick to put Trinity in potential scoring position. The juniors' kick dinked off the crossbar to catch the Leyla Kamshad off guard and allowed Grattan to capitalize to put Trinity up, 1-0. Off a corner kick by
Sadie Rudolph (Weston, Conn.) twenty-eight minutes later, Lindonen tipped in the rock after the goalkeeper dropped the save.
A little less than halfway remaining in the second half, Brianna Binder wiped the goose egg off the scoreboard for the visitors off a steal in the right corner and pass by Jaquelin Nordhoff. The home team remained aggressive on the field with a single shot allowed and blocked by
Laurel Iorio (Signal Mountain, Tenn.). In the box, Marianna Cournoyer (St. Paul, Minn.) stopped eight Williams' attempts. The Bantams played strategically with five goals on target to get two bullseyes and a trio turned away.
Trinity remains at home for their last matchup of the regular season against league opponent Amherst on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
