McDermott Notches First Career Goal in 5-1 Loss at Tufts

MEDFORD, Vt. — Second-year student-athlete Owen McDermott (Williston, Vt.) recorded his first career goal in 5-1 loss at Northeast Small College Athletic conference foe Tufts University on Sunday. The Bantams fell to 0-5-3 overall and 0-4-1 in the league, while the Jumbos moved to 4-2-4 and 1-2-3.

In the first half Tufts dominated with five goal scored ignited by Sean Traynor 13 minutes into the game for the home team, followed by a goal three minutes late by Taylor Feinberg. McDermott stripped the goose egg off the scoreboard for the Bantams with his first goal in the Navy and Gold 66:11 into the game. Sophomore Charles Kaldor (Larchmont, N.Y.) assisted on the lone Trinity goal from the end line to header near the back post.

Tufts outshot the visitors 18-10 despite James Donaldson's (Kirkland, Quebec) team-leading three shots. Bernardo Simoes (Lisbon, Portgual) and Matt Birnhak (East Dix Hills, N.Y.) split time in the box for a combined five saves and faced 10 shots.

The team returns home for a matchup against conference rival Bowdoin on October 8 at 11 a.m.
