Bria Fuller (Springdale, Md.) scored 11 points to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 64-39 victory over the visiting Mitchell College Mariners in women's basketball action this evening on Ogrodnik Court in Oosting Gymnasium. The game was the season opener for both teams. Trinity will host Eastern Connecticut in its next game on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Mitchell hosts CCNY on Monday at 6 p.m.
Trinity never trailed, opening up a 15-0 lead nine minutes into the game including seven points by junior Emma Wax (Pine Brook, N.J.). Trinity led, 34-16, at halftime and outrebounded the Mariners, 45-28. Trinity sophomore guard Hannah Marzo (Shrewsbury, Mass.) joined Fuller in double figures in scoring with 10 points off the bench. Junior center Reilly Campbell (Wallingford, Conn.) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds and blocked three shots for Trinity and Wax dished five assists. Trinity forced 23 turnovers but committed 24 of their own. Yasmine Santos paced Mitchell with 10 points and Anna Wiley had nine points, nine rebounds, and two blocks.
